i need advice real bad i am swapping out my maual brake setup on my 69 f100 ranger with the complete front end from a 77 f150 that my friend is getting plus the power steering setup as well that will solve those problems my big headache is getting an auto tranny that i can bolt up to my 300 six and do i need another crossmember for the auto trans plus what changes do i need to make to the driveshaft btw it is a long bed can it be done easy enough or is it a real pain any help & advice would be great i am sure i am not the first guy that has tried to do this type of conversion i live in sc and there is some junkyards around i would be thankful for all and any info thanks in advance :help: :?

driveshaft length is determined by which transmission yo uput in it. here are a picture of the two types of crossmembers to put in your truck. the two on the left are automatic the one on the right is manual. these are not especially stock for auto and manual. some of the early auto trans used the manual crossmember. it will also depend on which transmission you use.

thanks fordman all i need to do now is know what tranny to bolt up to it i guess any auto in from the seventies trucks would fit right :? :fr:

You need a C4 or C6 from pretty much any vehicle with a 302, 351W or 300 as they are all the same bolt pattern. One from a truck would be best as you will know that the mount will be in the proper place. If you get adventurous, you could get an AOD to have overdrive, but will require some more custom work. For the driveshaft, you'll need to make sure whatever driveshaft you get is compatible with the end of whatever transmission you get. The length depends on what transmission you end up using.
