I'm wondering if there is a such a tranny...
Current plan is to drop a 300 i6 into my highboy. I have the stock 4spd and plan as of now is to swap bellhousings and run the 4spd. But I'd like to get every MPG i can get. Is there a 5spd that will directly swap into my highboychassis in place of the 4spd? Any mods at all need to be done? Trans can not be week because the whole point of dropping a 300 in is to tow a 6,000lb trailer
What tranny

Re: What tranny
I saw that, pretty cool.
After researching it though it seems I would have to rebuild that tranny to make it work with 4x4, and that it isn't that great of a matchup for a 300, especially while towing. I'd have to pass on that trans.
A good possibility i keep reading about is the zf trans but that would be like $2,000 to get one in.
I think i will stick with my 4spd, at least for a while.

Re: What tranny
I agree with the m5r2 I am running one in my '68 F-250 4x4 ,the trany came from a '99 F-150 with a L-6.
The m5 is longer so you need to move the cross member back and shorten drive line.

that is a link to my project.

Re: What tranny
What did you have to do to make the tranny work with 4x4??
So all you simply needed to do was scoot the tranny crossmember back and shorten the driveshaft between the tranny and t-case?
Isn't the tranny crossmember in the middle of the frame rail, did you move it back keepint it in the middle of the frame rail?
I've never seen a tranny hump hole so big in a bumpside floor and that appears to be the original hole. Mine is the typical trans cover that is just the width of the top of the hump, I guess I would also have to cut more of my floor out. hmm
Thanks Steve!

Re: What tranny
My cab came off a F-600 so it has a bigger cover.I moved the cross member back about 5"and down about 3/4" to keep the intermediate shaft at the same angle .
I think that you could use existing hole the stick is real close to the same place and it sits down enough.
You will need to mount a clutch master cylinder.it might conflict with the brake booster .
I have pics of the master cylinder set up also, any thing I can do to help let me know.
