Hey would a 1981 Ford 1/2 ton 4x4 front axle fit into a 1967 F-100 4x4 ?

i know on the 2wd 1/2 tons the lug pattern was changed for a few years. starting in 1980. it was the same as a car. 5x 4 1/2

1980-1997 are TTB. Nothing whatsoever like what you have.

That only applies to some 1/2 tons, most were still 5 on 5.5. Only the light GVWR trucks got the smaller bolt pattern. Around here the small pattern seems to be pretty rare. Hawkrod

really. why was that done? was it becasue of gvw on certain trucks?

Yes, light GVWR trucks had the small bolt pattern and heavier trucks had the normal pattern. You would think it would cost more to make two seperate sets of things like brake rotors and axles because except for the size of the bolt pattern, the parts are identical!
