Made a dumb mistake...threw a part away. Help!
I am hoping that someone might be able to help me, I rebuilt my c4 transmission, went to install it and realized that I accidently threw away the mounting brackets. If anyone has these parts and doesnt need them please let me know, maybe we could work it out. Or if someone know's where I could find these that would be great.
Here is the schematic that shows the parts, the numbers are 6054 and 6068:

Thanks in advance for any help!

The part marked '6068' is just the transmission mount, and should be available at any auto parts store...it's an expendable item. They're available too at Rock Auto for less than $10. The one marked 6054 is a brace for the mount and really isn't needed. It's job is to keep the transmission mount together in case the rubber breaks/separates. However, I've parted out quite a few trucks and have actually never even seen that piece before, so I think it's something that a LOT of people tend to forget about. Personally I wouldn't lose any sleep over not having it, especially if you're not driving like a maniac or drag-racing.

I am pretty sure the 6054 part comes as part of the new mount. Did on the last one I bought anyway

Most mounts I have seen have both pieces attached to each other. Those that I have seen detached were mounts that were bad.
6054 makes a good door handle. Four of the door handles in my shop are 6054s bolted to the door.

I have never seen a mount that came with the 6054 included, and I've replaced a lot of them.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

Re: Made a dumb mistake...threw a part away. Help!
The ones I remember changing seemed to have it molded into the rubber of the mount just a bit. It would move enough so you could get the bolts started but was still attached. You got me wondering though so I'll have to dig out one or two old ones that might be floating around me junk

Re: Made a dumb mistake...threw a part away. Help!
The support was used on all 65 and newer trucks (and also on many 60's cars). It was never molded to the rubber, it was always a seperate part. Due to heat and compression combined with oils, the rubber bonds to it and it seems like it is part of the insulator but it isn't and never was. There are several different versions and two different ones were used on bumps and a few different ones on dents. All trucks were supposed to have them so if you find a truck that does not, it is likely that it had the insulator replaced and, as in this situation, the person did not realize it was a seperate part. Since these trucks are 40+ years old it is impossible to say if the mount you see is original because you would be very hard pressed to tell the difference between 50K miles of dirt and 75K miles of dirt! Re: Made a dumb mistake...threw a part away. Help!
Thanks for the input. I ended up getting a part at the local auto parts store. It had a block welded into it so it was just one part. It worked great and my transmission rebuild was successful. Thanks again.
