Thanks for the comments. Yes it does help to start with a solid vehicle. I have been surprised up to this point how well things are coming apart (only one broken fastener for the whole truck). As far as the camper is concerned, it's gone. It was actually in poor condition with considerable water damage.
Well I have still been hard at it and got the frame and bottom of the cab prepped all the way to the back of the cab. I have used easy off extensively, simple green, purple power, lacquer thinner, wire wheels, scotchbrite pads, ..... Once the metal was satisfactorily clean I seam sealled, masked and started painting (yes!).

The Easy Off took all the paint off the inner frame rails just leaving a little handwork to get them clean. Junk in pockets of crossmember came out with a blast from the wire wheel.

Seam sealer I used. Be careful saying the name out loud, folks get the wrong idea.
