Valve covers won't fit!

Post by mrtleavitt »

So I'm sooo close to starting up the new 428! I got the valve train all installed with some sweet roller rockers from comp cams. I went to put on my valve covers and they won't fit! I got the extra tall ones from Edelbrock but the problem is that they aren't wide (or long) enough. They rub on the end supports on the end of cyl 1 and 4 and the same with the other bank.

Has anyone ran into this problem before? What have you guys done, any suggestions?

I've started grinding away on the inside of the valve covers and I think I can get enough to get them to fit.

I got spacers from DSC Motorsport and used chrome Ford Racing Valve covers. Had to dent one to get clearance around the brake booster. I was careful, and you have to really look to tell it was dented. Even then, looks like it was made that way.
