valve springs

While tearing into the engine on the old F-350 today I noticed something somewhat peculiar about the valve springs. Does the yellow paint on them have any meaning at all? I would have assumed that factory springs would have been unpainted.

ugh. that greasy grimy build up. you have tried scrubbing you have tried wsshing but it still wont come out. have you tried shouting it out?

i havent seen springs in any stock enignes that were painted. but that doesnt mean too much.

on my 352 rebuild some of the springs were yellow

I thought it was bad grease buildup. or gunky sludge. Mine have that on them also.
