Re: what is this?
There is supposed to be a rubber grommet in the top of at least one of the valve cover holes that it fits into, big end down.
The flared end sticks out of the valve cover and connects with a vacuum hose (not fuel line) to a similar nipple somewhere near the base of the carb or sometimes to the air cleaner housing.

We call them reburners, it will take the fumes, and anything It can reuse and put it back into the carburetor to reburn it.

Wow, I sat and stared at this thing for the longest time. Like I said, I have been away from this stuff for a lot of years, and if it wasn't in the 69 f100 i USED TO OWN OR THE OTHER PRE 1960'S CARS i HAVE OWNED, IT just looks foreign to me. Thanks for all the info, it all makes sense now!

Re: what is this?
Okay, I mutilated the hose that connected the PCV to the carb. I tried replacing it with good old fashioned rubber fuel line. The old hose was pre bent and stiff. needless to say, the PCV is not seated tight in the valve cover. Is there somewhere I could buy a replacement hose that is rigid and pre bent like the old one, or should I just put the old one back in?

Re: what is this?
I guess That is my solution! I can't find that rigid stuff anywhere. How crazy is that. Now my only dilemna is wether to use copper or silver flexi tubing! They all look so chic.
Thanks again ToughOldFord
