302 roller vs non roller

Post by 56 Aero »

I've got to replace my 71 model 302 thats in my 69 F100. I found the reman engines on ebay and THINK I'm going to go that route. The question is if I get a roller motor is there going to be enough difference in power between it and a non roller, to justify changing the harmonic balancer, pullies, flex plate, etc. The truck is not a daily driver, no heavy hauling, just crusin' around. The C4 has been rebuilt and set up to shift nice and firm, and the old motor has an Edelbrock carb, alu. intake, BBK shorties, Dura spark, etc. and I would like to use these items on the new motor also. Thanks for any info..........Rick

I dont think it will make any difference, unless the roller motor block is different, you should be able to use your old stuff, and work just fine, since its rebuild time,id go ahead and get the best motor your budget will allow, you wont regret it later on,a good running 302 is a dam good little motor.and you can add on stuff to the moon, plenty after market available.
