Head Bolts

Post by 70 Sleeper »

I am in the process of tearing down a 429 to rebuild and I cannot get the head bolts loose. I soaked them in PB Blaster over night, but they are still tuck on there like no other.

Any help would be great.

Do you have access to air tools? 1/2" drive impact should jar them loose.

I forgot to mention that I tried that today also. The bolts will turn maybe and 1/8 of an inch but no more.

I would try blasting them back and forth (tight and loose) with the impact. What brand impact are you using?

Craftsman impact and 33 gallon compressor. Thanks. I will try the back and forth method.

i would get new bolts after tightening and lossening them like that. but sometimes you have to do what you have to do to get something done.
