First F-100 with 302 Engine

Post by 1969Original »

My dad purchased my 1969 F100 in July of '69. I beleive this is one of the first ones sold with a 302 engine. Does anyone know exactly when Ford started selling trucks with this engine. All of the info I find says it was mid or late in the model year.

Is there any way to tell if my truck was one of the first to have a 302? Are there any records showing what VIN Nos. had 302s?

I have a 69 as well and tore it down a couple of years ago. My engine and heads are actually 68's. I think it had something do with the way Ford figured model year changes. My truck was built in Sept 69 but the engine was a late 68.

My heads are stamped "T" for truck. I think on Keiths tech pages he mentions introduction of the 302 in mid 69, but some parts stores only show 70 for the first year.
