429 big block??
Any one know if a 1970 f350 came with a 429....And will the engine and tranny drop in a 1970 f250??? http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/pts/1264561737.html
Re: 429 big block??
fairly certain that they didnt come factory in pickups, at least not f100-350s. easy swap though. worst part for me was having the driveline shortened. cake!

it will fit and it has everything you need right there. maybe even the driveshaft.

Re: 429 big block??
I don't see any problems. If the guy would let you I would get all the motor and frame mounts, tranny cosssmember and driveshaft. If the driveshaft is to long it is not hard to shorten it. I would grab it quick before someone else gets it because that seems like a great deal

429 was never offered in a pick up. 460 was first offered in '73, I believe.

Re: 429 big block??
I found a nice 70 Thunder bird wirh a 429/c6 and was thinking about buying it for the engine and tranny and then parting out the car. I'm sure I would take some extra stuff to mate it to a 73 4spd that has a 390 in front of it now though.

That looks like an FE to me. Look at the water pump.
Locate approximately as shown.

True, but we all know that the dealers would swap in what ever you wanted...as long as it was in production.BobbyFord wrote:429 was never offered in a pick up. 460 was first offered in '73, I believe.
Most likely it is a retro fit.

The bell housing bolt pattern is different between the 429 and the 390.AK F100 wrote:I found a nice 70 Thunder bird wirh a 429/c6 and was thinking about buying it for the engine and tranny and then parting out the car. The engine perches and mounts necessary to install a 385 series engine in an F-series truck were not available until 1973.MadMaxetc wrote:True, but we all know that the dealers would swap in what ever you wanted...as long as it was in production.BobbyFord wrote:429 was never offered in a pick up. 460 was first offered in '73, I believe.
