300 SIX

Post by Skifu »

Hello all,
Ive got a slight skip, and stumble right off Idle,Ive tuned up with new wires, plugs, cap, rotor, air filter, and replaced 2 broken vacuum lines, any Ideas? When you get past idle it clears up and runs good, but sitting at an idle,it is running bad,the whole truck shakes.96-F-150,300-six..
What should I check next??? Thanks for any Ideas.

Check TPS. Check the timing, make sure the spout connector hasn't fallen off.

I'm not sure if a 96 has a VSS input to the EEC or not, but on older trucks the EEC uses the VSS signal to determine when the truck is in a zero-throttle coast/engine brake situation and it cuts injection PW to zero. If the EEC doesn't get the VSS signal on the older trucks it will do some goofy things at idle, the idle can be very erratic. Your 96 has just the tone ring in the rear axle and likely speed sensors in each front hub if it has 4 wheel ABS. If the later EEC's still use a speed input that could be your issue.
