ATK Engines

Post by ta2drhino »

Has anyone dealt with ATK Engines out of Texas? I contacted them after looking at their website and talked to someone who seemed knowledgable. I am looking at ditching my 360/C6 and putting in a high-performance 351W backed by an AOD tranny. The engine is advertised to put out 385 hp. I have a 3.00 rear-end. I am thinking that I can get good performance (not necessarily off the line) and some pretty good mileage out of this combo.

Any thoughts? Any thoughts on ATK?

the 3.00 would tach you at around 3200 at 75mph it might be closer to 2600 with the aod. but i think you'd do better with a 3.25 and aod this should drop it to 2200-2400@75mph.

my 390 is doing 1300@35-40mph. currently the mileage is great and i won'ty arguew with it. it can keep taching that low and getting the mileage i filled to 3/4 tank last monday and have gone a few places and still have half a tank.

The 3.00 should put me around 1810 at 75 mph with the Ford AOD tranny. The 3.25 would RAISE my rpm's...not much, but closer to 2000. The tire is 28" tall, the OD ratio for the tranny is .67. I would get slightly better lower end out of the 3.25, but not as good on the highway.

It has been a long while, but we used to use ALOT of them in japinese stuff. Never had a problem.

Friend put a 302 in his truck and had a rear main leak. They paid him labor (he worked at a shop) to fix it.

Good stuff.... Buddy of mine just went to work with them. He's been around the block a time or two, and HE was impressed, not only with the facilities/equipment & people, but the way they do business.
