2wd 4wd oil pans

wil it kill anything if i use a 2wd engine with the 2wd oil pan in my 4wd? i wont be doing any climbing or anything like that. i thought it best to post here instead of the 4wd section.

even if your don't plan any large bumps or curbs, it happens....Need a 4wd pan? FE. PM me.

No, it won't kill anything....depending on how you drive and how high the truck sets. The reason for the rear sump in 4WD pans is for front differential clearance. A front-sump pan will still fit, but it'll be mighty close. Here's a shot of the pan in my F100 4WD with a front-sump pan and stock ride height. You can see how the tracking bar has contacted the front of the pan and made it's mark.

if it isn't one thing its another. i forgot about the clearance issue. that 6 cyl is looking better everyday.

Also if you have a hi boy you'll have engine cross member clearance issues.
Side oiler FE, see if you can catch me!!!

craig, i'll trade you my pan and pickup tube for a front sump if you want. (although it looks like i'll have no prblem changing my oil now with the rear sump pan in the truck).

you might withthe filter. i bet its a car type adapter. and up against the crossmember. i'll bring you a truck one up tomorrow. i better come up before noon. its suppose to rain at 1:00 tomorrow.

i'll already be greasy from the clutch install. bring it! i seriously don't think that pan is worth anything. i was looking at it from the bottom the other day and it had been crunched a few times in different places. in fact, it had never even been started where it sits and is leaking oil all over my driveway.
