Ugg broke carburetor ear off

So unfortunately I broke the ear off my motorcraft 2bbl carb, so I have to go back to my holly which Ill have to put a rebuild kit. I guess the only way the get my money back off the motorcraft would be to find the encasing?

What do you mean "get your money back"? encasing?

Didn't you say you broke it, we can only assume you must have WAY over tightened it, the specification is something like 7 ft-lbs which is very little.

can u not buy a new base plate??? there are places that sell carb repair parts--do a little creative googling--be surprised at what is out there

The ear broke off , well i don't think I over tightened it but what happened i think i put one bolt uneven tightness with other so when I went to tighten it, i heard a crack and didn't find out untill later. But yea, getting money back was wrong thing to say, i meant getting my money out off it. But yea the casting block unfortunately you cant weld, but whats the best way to get one? Search a junk yard and get lucky, or any sites I can go to. I had to buy a rebuild kit for old holley I have, which is better anyways. But I don't want that carb to go to waste. I would just have to transfer all pieces over.

Well I do have to say your the only one I know if to ever bust a ear off a carb

Yea well i don't exactly know how either, ive taken and put it on 100s of times and never had that happen, so wtf. But I just have bad luck as a person anyway.

so where is this ear that broke off? and where is the ear located at on the carb top or bototm. or is it the spacer plate that broke? i am at a loss to figure out what ear and where it is at.

The front passenger side ear, directly on the carburetor. Unfortunately, I wish it was the spacer plate, and I wish it was made outta steel so I could weld it.

Umm Jb? All I have is a modified mig and an arc welder. I use to have oxy acetyline, does it come in a pack, and you put the 2 compounds together?

This is JB Weld, it is some pretty tuff stuff, but not sure if it would work for that carb though.
