Looks great. Yeah, a better one should have been found but you got a good deal for a complete truck with a known good engine. I say you did just fine.
Please tell me you are taking it back to the two tone mallard green / white. It is going to look good when done.

Sorry dablack00, if anything my project is going to end up looking just like TD's bump, low, monotone, and hopefully fast.
Stangconv, I got the sandblasting done in Bonnyville, I think it used to be called Bonnyville sandblasting but it is now owned by Flint, take cash and talk to the old guy there Wilfrid. He did all that work, it took about 3 hours and I gave him $100 cash. I was pretty happy about that. I will find you a phone number and email it. Hindsight is 20/20 but I would have never got body panels done there again, it was too aggressive and it tears up the metal too bad. Luckily you sold me a new box....

Re: My 1972 F-100
I am back from vacation, and if I could get a day off work I would go to my utility trailer and dig out those parts and send you those pics, please be patient....I can't find the number of that place because for the life of me I don't know the exact name of it. I can tell you it is just east of Bonnyville on the south side of the road. The guy who set it up is a guy I work with so when he comes back after Christmas I will hook you up.
Lizard Skin is a sound barrier and ceramic insulation which is supposed to be pretty good, I think I heard about it because they used it in the bumpside build-off in Classic Trucks magazine??
Anyway, check out www.lizardskin.com watch the videos, it seems like pretty good stuff. It is kind of expensive but I was hoping to put my truck back together without that black sound deadening mat that would be about $300 cdn for a new one so maybe that justifys the cost....just kidding who cares. I really like the finished product because it kind of has a textured look like a spray in box liner.
If you do decide to go with Lizard skin keep in mind it has a one year shelf life so don't buy it and shelf it, our Canadian dealer is in BC near Vancouver check out www.oldcarcentre.com, I think the guys name was Jim?? His pricing was awesome (very close to matching US price) and he had it to me in 2 days on Greyhound. Don't waste your money on the spray gun kit, you can borrow mine.

Re: My 1972 F-100
Worked on the truck all weekend. Installed a Fatman 4-link and mounted the fuel tank. It is the same kit as the bumpside build-off in Classic trucks used, we didn't go as low as they did but it will work.
Before pic
Bare frame
Front cross member installed
C-notch in frame
4-link complete
Fuel tank from behind
Front view
Next up, sandblasting the frame, and getting the paint and body work completed. Stay tuned....

Re: My 1972 F-100
I used the Classic Trucks article as a rough guideline. In their article they replace the rear end too. They mounted it outside the frame, and due to the low height they put in a step notch in the frame in a later article.
Here is the link
http://www.classictrucks.com/tech/0705c ... _link.html
As far as why I went on the outside of the frame, it just seemed to be easier and better. Bumpsides have very narrow frames to begin with, I thought it would make it more stable if the links were further apart. Plus if I had to put them inside the frame I would end up welding one of the rear end brackets right on top of the vent for the rearend. I am sure it could be moved but it was easier to not move it.

One more thing, anyone who wants my DJM leaf spring hanger/shackle kit for the rear make me an offer and pay shipping and they are yours!! I installed them but the truck hasn't been driven since so they are brand new.

Re: My 1972 F-100
Wow, Feb 8 was my last post on my project update.....I spent the last part of February getting a better box for my project and then hauled it down to my hometown for a paint job. The guy I picked to paint it is a family friend who does restorations, so I wanted to go with someone I knew.
In April the painter suffered a heart attack and spent a lot of time recovering. I went down there this past weekend. I am happy to say that my friend is doing better and I should see my truck back in a few months. It was kind of stuffed in a corner, but here are a couple of shot that I got of it after it had been media blasted.

Re: My 1972 F-100 Jan20 update
I thought maybe I would take the time to slap a few more pics of my truck up. I remember when I started I thought it would go really quick. Almost 2 years into it now, and a few dollars invested as well
Anyway, the floor on my first bed was as crooked as a dog's hind leg so it got scrapped, the bottom cross members on the above bed (#2) basically vaporized after being sandblasted, so now I am on box number 3.
This is before I did anything to it, looked really good and unlike the first 2 was basically rust free. However after peeling the paint off there was more body filler than I have ever seen, in some spots more than 3/4 of an inch. I have decided my truck is cursed and is fighting me all the way.
Part of the reason this is taking forever is I keep adding stuff. Like shaved drip rails
Bigger wheel tubs
during:
done:
This is my favorite touch, because it is a modification I have never seen so it may be the most (and only) original mod I have done to my truck. We filled the hole for the 72 running light with the point of a bumpside off some old front fenders. Pic isn't the best but I think it is cool
This is my ugly mug looking rough after 2- 12 hour days on the truck. had to stand there to hold the tailgate up because the shaved latch needs to be bolted in..
Hope you like 'em, more to come soon. I am determined to have it painted by April. Next up, Mustang tank and finish frame.
