Parts interchange info needed on AM/FM Stereo

Post by f100ranger1969 »

Heres a really good question for you guys. I was at the local U-Pull-it Yard today and found a 1981 Mercury Cougar 4-Door. Just happened to look inside and the interior was almost perfect and the AM/FM stereo was completely intact and in great shape. The radio looks as if it would fit a 67-72 f series with no problem. Its exactly like one I just saw on ebay recently with the am/fm slider bar and push button selector. I would have taken it but the place was closing and you have to take apart the entire dash on this car to even think about getting it out. Even if it wasn't a match I think it would have been only $10 anyway. Does anyone know if some Ford/Lincoln/Mercury cars ran this same or similar radio up to the 80's and if it would fit our trucks?
Thanks, Jeff
