Oy Vey, Cheby Guys.......
Check out this engine hoist, well, he calls it an engine hoist. Personally I think it's some king of demolition device designed to tear the ceilings out of garages...
(Not just a Chevy joke either, I found this on a Chevy forum!)

Re: Oy Vey, Cheby Guys.......
the only thing saving him is the crossbracing to the next 2x4. that wouldn't pull an fe out.

Re: Oy Vey, Cheby Guys.......
I am kinda curious as to what is on the other side of that ply wood since they cut hole through it for the chain. I would think if the roof was up higher they wouldn't bother putting the ply wood there. Perhaps a house with a room over the garage and a chain to trip over in the middle of the floor? I could be just wrong on my whole assumption as I ain't no house expert, but that seems odd. Wonder what motor he was using it on, a Cavalier's?

Re: Oy Vey, Cheby Guys.......
Good question Jason, gotta wonder just what that guy put that chain through? Someone's floor or his roof?? I'll guess his roof, not sure, but I don't think you can use 2x4's for flooring.
He was switching a 2.8 V6 in his S-10, definitely not a very heavy engine, but still more than I'd be willing to trust to a 2x4.
Fordman, you're right, it probably wouldn't budge a FE, it'd probably just pull the roof down without ever budging the engine.
He may be relying on the Romex for some extra support.
I'm currently rebuilding or replacing the engine in my S-15 so I went over there for some ideas.
I tell you, Chevy guys are a bunch of children. To be fair there are a couple of helpful guys there, but there's a large number of a$$-grabbers calling each other retards and even a moderator banned a guy for being a 'd*ck sucker'. Manages to make FTE seem mature in comparison....

It looks like there is a pretty stout 6x6 post to the far left but still..... it doesn't look very safe.

If you have the 2.8 or 3.4 V6 this is a good site as well:

Re: Oy Vey, Cheby Guys.......
sure makes you wonder about some people dont it. I would figure that a 2x4 would break with a few hundred pounds on it. As far as fe engines go it might be able to hold up the intake.
