re: cigar lighter???
It's the same thing....whenever the factory brochures mentioned them they always referred to it as a "cigar lighter' though...maybe they thought cigars were classier than plain old cigarettes.
FWIW: both my '67s had lighters, and another one I parted out in the salvage yard also had one. In fact, of the dozen trucks I've bought and/or parted out over the past couple years I haven't run across a truck yet that DIDN'T have a lighter.

re: cigar lighter???
Speaking of not coming with a lighter. No new Ford comes with a lighter or ash tray. They have to be ordered as the "Smokers Package".

re: cigar lighter???
When I got the build sheet for my truck it also said it had a cigar lighter and I also could not tell a difference. I also have the build sheet for my dads 71, and it doesn't say it has a cigar lighter, I knew it had a lighter so I compared the two, I was kind of wondering about that, but it doesn't matter the lighter doesn't work anyways.

re: cigar lighter???
The 68 I last had didn't come with one, I had to install a lighter so I could plug in my phone. Often things like the lighter may be included in a "convenience group" and not listed seperately. Also they may have become standard equipment at some point in time.

....also, these days it's very common to have all kinds of 12V plug-in accessories, and of course you need a proper receptacle. It just plain makes no sense to make that a custom-order option.

I suppose they still have the outlets for accessories.
I wondered how long it would be before cars got politically correct on the ashtray thing. One more reason to hate new cars.

Re: re: cigar lighter???
no ash tray? Then where do you put your change? They would have to have outlets of some sort. I would be irritated if my new car/truck didn't come with something as simple as a lighter and an ashtray, just because they have so many uses other than just being a lighter and an ashtray (accesory plug in, and my ashtray makes a great cell phone holder ). Even though I don't smoke and neither do my passengers if they value their life (the smell sticks in the seat for days )willowbilly3 wrote:I suppose they still have the outlets for accessories.

I (foolishly) once let a guy I know borrow my truck for a bit. He let his buddies ride along with him and they smoked in my truck. Oh man was I ticked, the whole thing smelled like butt. I had to go get a strong air freshener. So then it smelled like butt and coconut

Hey Liz, that reminds me of the Avon lady that farted on the elevator and quickly sprayed some piney fresh air deoderizer to hide it. The old drunk gets on at the next floor and starts sniffing, then exclaims " smells like someone pooped a Christmas tree in here"
