Heater Cables

Post by kentdaryl »

Does anyone know a good way to lubricate the heater and defrost cables on our trucks? Since the outer sheath is kind of an open looking cable, can the lube be applied right over the outer cable?

I always just spray on some silicon lube, it goes right through the sheath and makes a world of difference. WD-40 works but doesn't last long and smells.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

Yeah, I've lubed mine too, but it seems to only last so long. It's time I replace mine again :(

I used lock graphite on cables and pivot points. The carrier evaporates leaving the graphite. Gently worked the cables loose and they haven't been problem since. WD40 leaves oil residue which attracts dirt.

Yeah Comet, I know
Not only trying to finish things up ( it goes back to the painter next Wed for final buffing and a couple of other issues ) but I've been busy trying to find my 16 year old daughter a car so I don't have to keep running her around to all her activities. I still don't have a digital camera, but as soon as I do I'll post some pic's. By the way, I bought some white grase in an aeresol can that worked great on the cables, should work on tough to get to pivot points on the door hinges. Sorry I missed Portland, I'll plan on going next year.
