cleaning up 352 for F350

I started disasembling the 352 I got from FLATBEDFORD. It will replace the very tired 390 that is in it now. Cooltoolguy already has dibs on the 390 and he will get it. I ordered the Fel-pro gaskets yesterday, and they should be at my house tomorrow. I only broke one manifold bolt, too. Not bad, I guess.
I forgot to take pics of the motor in the back of my '71. Thankfully FLATBEDFORD sent me these. Nice work on the exhaust manifold, huh? Now Tim P. can see why I needed the set he had.
Anyway, here is what I started with, and I'll get some more pics tonight.

Looking good. So are you just going to clean it up, new gaskets, and drop it in?

Pretty much. This is a low budget project. This motor doesn't burn any oil, like my 390 does. I couldn't just drop it in all dirtied up though. The oil pan had a little seepage, so I figured I'd clean it up and replace all the gaskets, nothing too fancy.

Sounds like a good plan. Where did you get the gasket kit? I'm about to do a 360 regasket and paint too.

I ordered it from Summit. I got the cam change gasket set for $30.99. The order # is FEL-CK4005. It has all the gaskets except for the head gaskets and the rear main seal. It comes with water pump, timing chain cover, valve covers, intake, oil pan, fuel pump, distributor, and the seal through the timing cover. I think that's it. Not too bad of a price, although I only paid $15 for the kit I got for my 302. Wasn't name brand though.

longbed, i cleaned my garage, now get that motor ready we need to dirty it up again:lol: glad to see the stand held it up i think flatbed may have to come down for this one too. the 15 minute engine swap

I can't do just a clean-up.
As soon as the intake comes off, then i say, what do the lifters look like?
As soon as the pan comes off, then i say , what do the bearings look like?
After you've gone that far, might as well pull the heads and clean up the valves....

I stand back and look at how dirty and grimy everything is and get the feeling I opened a can of worms. Don't worry, I'll finish. I have too, I need my garage back.

I wish I could rebuild the 390 into a rocket engine. It would be awesome doing burn outs with dual wheels.

I know the feeling i keep thinking bout the 4 barrel swap on the 352 and then think about putting the 428 crank in the 390 in the garage and dropping a 410 marauder in the 67'.Yeah it would be fun to spank rice rockets around here in granny gear..
