Anyone for Americruise in Lincoln NE?

Post by FORDification »

Rod & Custom's 2007 Americruise kicked off today in Lincoln, Nebraska at the State Fair fairgrounds. The event runs through Sunday evening. The editors of Rod & Custom normally do the picks of the top vehicles, but this year the editors of Classic Trucks (including our own 'Buckinthebowtie') and Custom Classic Trucks will also be there, helping pick a couple new awards: there will be a Truck of the Year (early – pre-49) and Truck of the Year (late – 1949-1972).

Just curious if any of you midwesterners were planning on checking it out? I wasn't holding my breath that I'd be able to attend it, even though it's only an hour away, but it's actually now looking like I WILL be able to make it on Sunday. :woohoo:

I live in Lincoln, but I didn't make it out to the fairgrounds. I have seen a LOT of really nice cars prowling the streets, though.
My neighbor across the street has a restored Model A Ford. He said he was going to go cruising down 'O' street (the main east/west street through town) on Saturday night. He said I should go cruising in my pickup. But I was too tired, and the bed is full of junk at the moment. I said maybe next year.
My brother in law has a 1940's Chevy hot rod, and my sister says he was going to 'be there for the duration'.
Hope you had a good time, Keith!
Trivia question: What is the only city to have hosted Americruise more than one time?
Answer: Lincoln, Ne. It has been held here 9 times.

I'm back....the back of my neck burnt to a crisp (again). I had a great time, definitely wish I could have spent more time taking some pictures. However, on the way home I checked my digital camera, and found out I'd snapped 473 pictures over the course of the event!!

Didn't see a single bumpside, or even a dentside for that matter. Didn't run into the Classic Trucks staff either. I stopped by their booth and introduced myself to whoever was there at the time, gave them a card with my cell number on it, hoping I'd get a call, but never did. Oh well...I still had a great time.

There's no way I could ever post every pic I took, but I'll get started posting some of the Fords over the next week. Right now I've got to get back to family business, as today is also my now-three-year-old son Jake's birthday, and we've got some candles to blow out and some presents to open. :D

Well, I spent the last several hours processing the pictures, and believe it or not I was able to get about 1/3 of the pictures processed and posted here. I wasn't just taking pictures of the Fords....I was snapping a little of everything, so it's a good mix. However, I'd still estimate that roughly 1/2 of the total pictures taken are of Fords, so don't flame me too much. ;) I just took pictures of anything that caught my eye or had some element that I thought was neat and wanted to save and share.

Within the next couple of days I'll continue processing the remaining pictures and will get them posted. I'll update this thread as more pictures get posted.

Check them out at the following link:

Well, I've got another Americruise 2007 picture page posted....another 89 pictures to check out. :D

Here's the link:

2007 Rod & Custom Americruise Photo Gallery - Page 2

I mis-counted my picture collection when I said there would only be three pages worth of pictures. By keeping the count to between 80-90 pictures per page, there's going to be FIVE pages total.

Have fun! :D

I hit the Americuse for the first time this year. It was awesome. I only made it on Friday and I'm sure Sat was even better. The venue is very nice, room for driving, several vendors lots of shade and some driving events to boot. Friday night we went to O street and watched them cruise. that was quite amazing. The cruise alone was almost worth the 3 1/2 hour road trip. I couldn't believe how many hundreds and hundreds of people lined up to watch the cool rides cruise by. Way better than going to see them sit in a Sonic parking lot. I'll definitely be back next year and have my bumpside ready to enter.

Glad you enjoyed your time in our town! :)
We really do have some great people here. O street is much nicer to drive on, now that it's been widened to 3 lanes each way from 70th to 48th.
I really doubt that my bump will be in anything approaching show quality by next summer, but if Americruise is held here next year, maybe I'll take it for a drive down O street.
