Carpet kit/C6 question...???...

Post by jjsuave »

I am looking for a carpet kit for my 67. I notice that some places have a different kit for "high center" cabs w/ C6 trannys. My truck has a cruisomatic (MX-HD) but I plan to put a C6 in it.

Question: Does this mean I need the "low center" carpet kit?
Question: Does this mean my C6 won't fit under a crusomatic cab?

Warm Regards.

Hopefully somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 'low-hump' trucks are those without a bolt-on cover. Those WITH a bolt-on cover are the high-hump. I've never seen more than one height of bolt-on hump, but I could be mistaken.

From what I've seen, the low tunnel was used with just the C4 or the three speed transmission. There is only one height of bolt on tunnel cover I've seen used and those were on four speed trucks. I'm not sure if it was used to clear the C6 trans as well. I'll be paying a visit to the wreckers this weekend so maybe I'll have an answer later -unless someone with an FE/C6 combo would care to comment first.

Hi mike! BigRedTruck already did. :D Yes C6 had high tunnel just like 4-speed but no hole. As you said C4 and 3-speed didn't.
