Opinions on wheels and tire sizes.

I've been thinking (yes, that’s as bad as it sounds)

There seems little doubt that I will need some additional traction, particularly in the rear. I was thinking of a couple of things, one of them somewhat bizarre:

1) Stock Type Steel wheels narrower in front and wider in the rear (15x8-10) powder coated Wimbledon white with the same hubcaps I have now.



2) Wire rod type wheels powder coated Bahama blue with chrome trim rings and "V8" hubcaps. Again big and little.



3) Salt flat specials (these only come in 15/7 and 15/8 unless special ordered.)



In addition to thoughts on those wheel options, thoughts on tires are welcome. There does not seem to be any matching front-runners for BFG drag radials. I was thinking of 275/60/15 Drag Radials on back and 225/70/15 Radial T/A’s on front. In addition, Coker tire reportedly has some “Nostalgia Rodâ€Â

Of the three choices you picked, I'm rather partial to the wire-spoke rod wheels. I think they would look great on your truck.

That said, check out http://www.etwheels.com/et/index.html. $$$, but cool designs.

Maybe I'm getting old (okay, okay.... no 'maybe' about it) but I think your first pic would be my pick.
I think it looks more gooder on these old iron rides.

Depends on whether you prefer the sleeper look over the hot-rod look. I do, so I'm also partial to widened stock steel wheels with factory hubcaps.

I'm really seriously considering the first two. I've kind of dismissed the Salt Flats.

On the first one its basically a factory wheel available in many sizes, I'd use the same Hubcaps as I have now, and try to match the side wall height so the tires appear the same size at first glance.

The second one a little more rake would be OK, I'd probably go with 15/5 and 15/8's. The thought of painting them white also crossed my mind but I don't think it would set the chrome/stainless off nearly as well. Painting them red also crossed my mind but that probably a little far out, I should save that for a 33 Duece or something. I actually think when my truck is finished with all the new trim and all and the blue wires, alot of people wouldn't be able to finger exactly what didn't look right about it. It would be a double take kind of thing.

I would probably have already ordered them except for the cost factor, I could buy 2.5 of the first ones for what one wire set up cost with cap and trim ring.

I have a question....
There's a 4x4 that keeps popping up on the everchanging display on the top left corner of the screen. It looks like it's got aluminum rims and the perfect sized tires and lift, etc... (for summer... wintertime we want our skinny tires back on!!)... at any rate.. does anyone offhand know the specs on that pickup??? My compliments to whomever owns it!!!

I like the 1st oneto i even thought of chrome reverse 15x10 2.5" back space forthe rear 15x6 centered on front ,altho cragar"ss" is my wheel of choice for these trucks

It will be sweet no matter yuor choice good luck

The first one's are some that I also was thinking of using,but I went with the Weld's.

Yes,The first one's I like alot and think they'll look cool on your Truck.

Definately the first ones, maybe even with stock dog dish caps. The wires are cool for a 30s rod but I think they would look out of place on a pickup. If you could find a set of stock wheels, Stockton wheel can use your centers to make any width you want. It might even be cool to use 16s on the back.
This picture is kind of small but here is a truck I did with stock wheels on front and 8 1/2s on back, with red rims. I don't think I could have gotten more compliments with $3000 wheels

Yeah I was having some trouble this morning. I was timing out trying to navigate and it never showed that the pic was attacjed so I hit it again, then I couldn't figure out how to axe the duplicate. Here is the pic. I wish I still had this little F-100. It was a sweety. I didn't have the factory chrome rear bumper or the hood trim back on it this picture. I had used red pinstriping tape over the black in the side trim and also used red over the black in the hood badges. I had guys flag me down on a few occasions just to check it out.
It was a 302 auto and I had put power steering on. Just something about that factory tinted glass makes a truck look better too I think.

All right I'm getting the idea that the wires might be too far out.

Cobra, what size welds and tires are you running. (I couldn't find any Weld or Auto/Drag Centerlines on 5/5.5.)

I'm having issues finding "matching" tires in sizes I think would work.
