To greatly over simplify things, I am a nuclear power plant weld inspector.
So I'm assuming your performing a full penetration destructive test on your welds. Would that be per MIL spec or AWS criteria?
My line of work, is non-destructive. Liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, visual inspections, and I'm working on my ultrasonic certifications. Also have 5 1/2 years of eddy current tubing inspection experience.

AWS, SNT-TC-1A, NAVSEA, ASME Section XI, etc.

And all I do on my welds, is a quick visual inspection. I don't allow undercut, arc strikes, ***** fillets, or porosity.

I cant wait either. Especially since I'm just kinda winging it... winging everything. haha.

Its not too often you come across someone who knows what non-destructive testing actually is! Most people say.... "huh?" So I just tell them I'm a weld inspector, and leave it at that... even though its MUCH more involved than that.

I suppose its time for an update. I recently purchased a new house, so I had to make this sucker a roller, and ASAP!

So I started slapping some tubing on for the backhalf. I didn't have time to plan, so this was all out winging it.

With a 4-link rear, its kind of important to have 4 links... so I got the upper links built and the brackets tacked into place.

Image

After that, I proceeded on with getting the lower links built and brackets attached.

Image

Full bump test shows that everything will EASILY clear. First thing that hits is the lower link contacting the bottom of the frame.

Image

Next I welded on my lower airshock mounts. And man do I need some argon and solid core wire. I'm tired of running flux core.

Image

Not insane amounts of double triangulation, but it is more than enough to keep the axle centered.

Image

Image

Bend up some tubes to weld on some upper airshock tabs.

Image

And I was able to roll it out into driveway to load it onto the trailer!

Also pretty much decided that I am going to use a manual transmission instead of a c6. I'm going to try to source a zf-5, but if I can't find one for dirt cheap, I'll just run the np435 I already have.

Anyone have any advice for mounting a hydraulic clutch setup in a 1969 F100? I already have a clutch pedal in the truck, so I'll probably use it, and modify to attach to the master cylinder.

I would like to, but I'm not it a rush to do so. Other stuff is higher priority right now. Once it is running and driving, I'll evaluate and see if it is worth my time to boat side it. More than likely, it'll be a yes though.

Here's what I did, re-clocked the arm that worked the original linkage and welded a bracket on for the mustang master used. Image

Awesome! Thanks for the picture. I may just need to crawl up under there and see what I can find. It probably won't be too hard to work out, I will just need to make sure it has enough throw to fully engage the master cylinder. Which should be fairly easy to figure out, because I have an entire 1985 parts truck I can take measurements and parts off of.

Looking at possibly building my own shifters for the transfer cases. I already have the cables for the shifters, just need to build the actual lever mechanism part. Anyone have any experience with this that could give some tips/tricks that were unexpected big helps? I have a few ideas, and don't see it being overly complex, but its always better to ask. Will be a triple-stick setup, so 3 shifters side by side.

I cant see it being to hard. just a shaft with bronze bushings with spacers some .25 plate cut to whatever shape feels good. I just did the regular twin stick with one factory stick a spacer so it would fit on a 9/16 bolt and another shifter built out of some tube i found in my scrap bin some .25 plate and 1/2" bar stock also a few 3/8 rod ends.

I don't see it needing to be this complicated
