I ran those blue dots for about a year before I took the truck apart and never got hassled about em.

'67 Short Wide Build (Update12/13) Motor Is In!

Post by 1967AceStroker »

Well after a few months she finally has a motor again. The only thing I have to do to finish securing it, is some work to the tranny crossmember. Its sitting on the crossmember right now unbolted. I'm gonna have to drill new holes, cause I had to scoot the crossmember back a few inches for the longer C6. Sorry about the pic quality. Hopefully next weekend I can get some good work put in on her. I've been really motivated lately to get her going again.

I'm gonna take the front wrap off one more time(its just sitting on for now) to power wash and paint all the inside. Gonna throw the headers on, starter, and some other final assembly while its off as well.

And since I'm all excited about my new toolbox I thought I'd show you guys.

Oh yeah. Will do the starter first for sure. I was going to put more of it together this weekend, but 30 degrees will zing a little motivation out of ya.

'67 Short Bed Build (Update12/4)

Post by 1967AceStroker »

Well I finally remembered to update. It's been almost a year! I've still been at it though.

I've gotten a lot done on the truck in the past year. Mechanically I have it almost complete. The motor/transmission went in flawlessly. Some other things I had to make work. I had to have a solid drive shaft I picked shortened to fit the new longer c6. I had to get crafty with the headers. I ended up getting a 351m set of hooker headers for a dent and changing the flanges and tweaking some of the pipes to make it work. I also had to reinforce and notch the radius arm cross member to get clearance for the headers. Installed a B&M ratchet shifter, which should be fun bang around. Mounted a 19 gallon RCI fuel cell in the bed and installed the fuel lines, filters, pump, and regulator. Decided to get a new set of ford racing valve covers. Had to wire all the MSD ignition and figure out what was what for the factory wiring, which was a huge pain, as I am not really good with wiring. Installed an electric fan. Mounted the battery, with a fancy box I bought and ended up cutting up to make work. Mechanically I only lack putting on the heater hoses and radiator hoses. I also need to mount the transmission cooler. Steering column is gonna stay out for interior paint. But it does run now and sounds like a monster! Open headers with the big cam sounds nasty! Body work is in progress as well. I did manage to paint the front of the frame/suspension while the front wrap was off. I couldn't do under the cab, or bed do to lack of help and/or lifting equipment. As for the body, the bed is in primer guide coat right now. The rest of the truck is all sanded down and has all the metal work done and needs just a little body filler sanding. I brought in a body work friend of mine and now its gonna get done right instead of my original idea of just a "scuff and shoot" by myself. Also the body/interior is completely stripped for paint. I now fully understand why the word "work" is in the term "bodywork". Very time consuming tedious work.

Here it is as it sits. Doesn't look like much now, but its gonna be a hell of a nice truck when its done.

Here is the engine compartment. Dusty from body work dust. I still need coolant hoses and to tidy up the wiring.

I will try to post some more pics, when there is a good amount of visible progress to show. Hope you guys like it so far.

P.S. I wanna do a walk around video soon so you guys can hear this thing.

Your engine compartement looks awesome, I was going to go with black on my block also. But then I got to thinking about how much of a hassle it would be to pinpont leaks. Now seeing yours im second guessing myself, that looks killer.

Thanks! I still am going with kona blue. I've already bought the paint so no going back now. It should be sprayed by early January.

Thank you Swegner. I wished I would have taken a picture before it got all dusty. It was all nice gloss black and I had all the chrome nice and clean. I think it would be just a little harder to find a leak on the black than if you had a blue block, or other light colors. But the engine compartment is so open and the simplicity of it all makes a lot of the engine easily visible. And everything being new and clean helps too. I'm glad I choose to use black. I like the black engine/heads with all the chrome and all the red MSD components.

'67 Short Bed Build (Update1/2)

Post by 1967AceStroker »

A small step of progress here. Got all the exterior in primer now. Interior is just spot primed. Pic was before the guide coat. It looks so much better all in one color. Now comes a lot more sanding. Gonna block this coat down, then re-primer it and wet sand that coat. Then its paint time.

It's gonna be a quick good looking truck. I can't wait to get it done. 8)
