There was a 410 police interceptor engine in 67 that much I do know it is the same as the aluminum intake just cast iron it is a early intake every one throws them away because they are too heavy .but I don't have another one .

The dist has the larger oil pump shaft it is quarter inch not five sixteenth the quarter inch oil pump shaft fits the oil pump in the engine

The dist hole in the intake is bigger than a regular Fe dist I don't know why a ft dist body fits tight in the hole I have been told there were 2 dist for ford engines I just bought a dist for a 391 ft from Amazon hope it works

The 410 motor was the poor cousin to the 428 cobra jet

Re: 72 green explorer special
The 410 block is the same as the 428 it looks like ford cast another block because a 390 block won't take a bore of 4.090 that is what I have read on these forums .

410 is a Mercury only engine. It’s the same bore as a 360 or 390. The displacement difference in 360/390/410 comes from the stroke.
Ford did use 410 pistons in 390 truck motors to achieve the low compression some of them actually said 410 near the pin. The 410 pistons with 390 stroke are below deck, that’s why truck compression is so low.
C8AE-H heads were very common on trucks and your exhaust manifolds will work fine since that’s how Ford did it.
Your intake casting number is incomplete but as long as it isn’t a cobra jet, low riser, high riser or some exotic race piece it’ll work fine too, in fact CJ or low riser will work with the correct gasket, but there will be an undesirable port mis match. I kinda suspect you have a fairly common “S” intake.
If you do in fact have a 410/428 crank you will need the corresponding flex plate unless someone has internally balanced it with heavy metal…
Fel Pro FS 8554 PT has all the gaskets you should need. Buy the prior mentioned books and you should be in business…

Re: 72 green explorer special
As have already said a 390 Fe dist doesn't fit a ft dist fits as for the exhaust mismatch the ports of the 390 truck are bigger than the ports on my cae8h head's are smaller as for the mismatch on the intake I have to use the intake I have no choice .so my 410 mercury motor is just a truck motor .as for the bore of the 390 my truck book says it is 4.050 that is different from my 410 which is 4.090 which would make it a .40 .over 390 .so I got ripped off by summit the heads I ordered are supposed to be gt 390 head's.these head's have bigger valves .

Re: 72 green explorer special
I have the right flexplate I would send pictures of the engine but your forum won't let me send pictures from my tablet did ford bore out a 390 just to put in .40 pistons and the counterbalance for this 410 .this engine is verified as a 410 the only headgasket that I can find Is a cometic 4.165 . The pistons are .10 below the top of the block

Not trying to disagree but I have measurements to back me up .as for the special Intake gasket no clue where to find them and now that I remember it is a s intake .
