The '68 diagram is the simplest to read. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wiring/68-09.jpg

It would be better to prime it with a drill on the oil pump drive, most especially if it has a new flat tappet cam in it, but if you’ve got no other choice.
You can spin the oil pump with a 1/4 drive socket on a long extension BUT TAPE THEM TOGETHER... and you need a good drill, you’ll smoke a cheap one...

Thanks, I primed it for about 3 minutes.
Next, I dont have a tach so what is the best way to break in with out knowing the RPMs?

Keep it at cruising RPM varying it up and down for the first 5-10 minutes. Longer isn't going to hurt and you'll probably need to shut it down for a leak or two beforehand. Don't forget to keep topping the coolant off while feeling the hoses to make sure the T stat opens.

Re: 302 with 351 firing order???? why?
ok, Pre flight check list
1. The distributor is set for TDC. what do i do when it fires? run at TDC? or retard the timing? i read set at 12 BTDC
2. I added coolant to radiator but engine is dry. Add coolant as it runs?
3. Cam Shaft break in. What if i have trouble with the engine staying running due to new carburetor or timing?
4. any suggestions are appreciated

Re: 302 with 351 firing order???? why?
I would try to set it as close as you can to what you want it final, but if it starts and will stay running for cam break in just let it be... its easier to set it to total advance using a timing tape of dial back light and let the initial fall where it may...BayStYAt wrote:ok, Pre flight check list

Yup... just leave the cap off and add it as you go...BayStYAt wrote:2. I added coolant to radiator but engine is dry. Add coolant as it runs?
Try to get through the cam break in in one fell swoop... if you have to shut it down, try to make sure it is good to go before firing it off again... the point is to make sure the cam has plenty of oil. Follow the cam manufacturers instructions which will probably be 2000 rpm and no idle... try to vary it up and down a little while keeping it in the range specified...BayStYAt wrote:3. Don’t panic...BayStYAt wrote:4. any suggestions are appreciated

Awesome, thanks.
As for the timing..... If it is set at TDC, does that mean the timing is set to 0?
Im panicking by the way
