Re: 1971 f250 DESERT truck- some work 1/4
holes cut for cage to hit subframe..
heres the head/intake i just spent $500 on. ill get them in march.
390 crank i picked up for $50. so ive got $590 into the 360 (soon to be 390) build that wont be built for a long time.
oh and as i am typing this i got a call from a guy off a offroad forum, and i just finished picking up these seats.
got them for $275 (two seats with harnesses). we have no clue what the seats are, there is no name whatsoever anywhere! im guessing they are old mastercrafts? he thought they were Beards? i dont know.
I dont know what were doing for the main rear hoop for the cage. we planned on putting it in today but it wouldnt fit in the door so we didnt bother bringing tube to get it started. we will have to remove build rear subframes so they will fit through the door or something. or a exterior main hoop.

that seat looks awsome, is that a 5-point harness?
have you looked at any cams for the 390 yet?
im intrested in what you will go with.

yeah, the seats are cool. they are 5 points but will need to be replaced when we race because they are outdated.

You can get a better cam then that. Try a Crane 343941.
Cool project so far. Good job.

heres the seat i bought before i bought the pair of seats. got it for $155 with shipping. this seat is nicer than the other two, it feels a little more comfy and looks alot better. I planned on selling it since i have no need for it and i could probably even make money on it but its too nice
looks like my doggy allready claimed dibs though

id save that seat for a future project, you have been to pirate so you have probly seen the rock buggys they build, and it looks like you have the skills you could build a little 1 person buggy

Re: 1971 f250 DESERT truck- 1/18 seats/subframe
Well i have put it aside to work on my '69 rebuild. But this weekend i plan on pulling the front/rear window, cutting the roof off and putting it on a trailer ready to have cage work started soon in a couple weeks

thats understandable, you got to balance the projects, too much time on one and the other will get angry.

Re: 1971 f250 DESERT truck- 1/18 seats/subframe
Yep. i spent tons of weekends on the '71 for a while, now i have spent tons of time on the '69 and will continue until its done this summer... so not much will be done to the '71 for a good while.
THis weekend i am determined to cut the roof off and get it on a trailer though, i havent had the time to do that yet. Then maybe weekend after this we can trailer it down and start the cage, while i save money for the '69's paint.

Re: 1971 f250 DESERT truck- 1/18 seats/subframe
thats cool, i know what you mean i have a dent 4x4 in the back yard that i want to get started on but i dont have a "real" job, i baby sit for my sister so that she can finish college, so i got the dent a $400 as payment and all the cash was spent on parts to get the bump running again. as soon as the mud dries up i should be tearing into the 360.
do you have any ideas for the roll cage yet? if so id like to hear about them. i plan to put one in my bump and it would be cool to see what you are going with since you have had so many other awesome ideas.
