In addition to the 8 slots Keith showed, there are two more holes, one at each end on the front facing side to hold the little hang down ends in place.
CACWBY, '66 and maybe even '65s offered a padded dash as an option (maybe the ranger model???) from what I can tell. You are right about it being a standard feature in '67.
I am curious to know the long term results of some of the dyes or paints. I found a good dash (at least I thought it was good until I got it home) I was going to give to Heep70 because it was blue. But once I cleaned it up the coloring was very splotchy. He and I talked about painting it, so since it's an experiment now, I want to see what it will look like.
