Re: 72 f250 highboy project
Been kinda hard to do any work on the bump lately, I did manage to find a factory 4 barrel intake in a junkyard on a 70 bump for $45.00 , also scored a edelbrock 600 carb slightly used free from a family member. Cleaned up the intake tonight hope to install this weekend.

Well its up and running, tag and insured ..Carb and intake swap worked out great, tightened up the new exhaust and drives nice for an old truck. Gear shifter is worn/loose at the handle to top of trans case, hard to hit the gears without grinding..How does one fix a loose sloppy shifter? scored a complete back window slider for the bumpside for 34.00 at a pull a part in Indy..also just a quick note a local juckyard by me has a few dana 60 high pinion f250 disc brake axles for 300.00 complete. Thought about upgrading from my dana 44 close knuckle with drums..

Some larger rebuilders rebuild 435 top plates on an exchange basis. Or you just buy another top plate in better shape. Last one I bought was $40 from a wrecker.
Any HP60 from an F-250 is the metric lug unit bearing pile super duty version. $300 is 300% more than they're worth. If the axles are non-super duty then figure out what they are and somebody here can help with what's involved to put it under your truck.

Thanks for the info, the dana 60's are on f250 bumpsides/dentsides that I spotted in my local junkyard. I will look for a rebuilt top plate. The truck is running great but I do get a lot of fuel smell from the in cab tank behind the seat.

No reason you can't still stop by and visit. Did you tell him about Fordification? Maybe he'll continue the project and keep us updated.
