Think about it... Pinion angle is a product of what? -Engine/transmission angle. So, you move the axle housing further from the frame without rotating it the angle still has to be the same angle as everything else.

Sounds a bit like you're falling into the "pinion needs to point at the t-case" trap. Don't think that way. U-joint angles must compliment each other to cancel out thier cyclic accelerations in a 2 joint system. Yeah, pinions point at the t-case when you have a CV shaft, but you don't have one and double cardins are more of a bandaid than a solution.

U-joint angles can be messed up and still work, heck, it's a pretty good chance most shadetree built lifted/modified trucks have some pretty messed up angles and they're still driven. If you want it right there's no way to do it without actually measuring the angles, with weight on the axles.
