Re: Rear gear '67 F350
dang 4.56s! Well I did some figuring for ya. I figured your tires are around 31" tall and that puts you at 2700rpm at 55mph and if you find a set of 4.10s and swap them in it will put you at 2450rpm at 55mph. There will be a difference in mpg but I don't think much if driven at 55mph. My crewcab has a 390 4speed with 4.10s and I am running 33" tires on the back and I am averaging a little over 9mpg. Your rear end since it is a 4.56 only can go to 4.10s and no higher. Just a little more info to think about since you dont want to swap rear ends. The only other idea to help a little is to change to a tall skinny tire for the rears and then your having to buy 4 tires.

Not good news :(
As some of you mentioned or were thinking, what I've found is the carriers go 4.56 and up or 4.10 and down.
So...what this means to me is in order to make this truck more of a daily driver it would take more work and money than "just" a gear swap as I was hopeing. I say "just" with a grain of salt of course because as some people may find swaping rear gears a no-brainer ( I have done it on other trucks ) I have found nothing I do goes as I planed.
Anyways anyone know anyone looking for a cool dump let me know, as I really want more of a daily driver ( should have thought of that before I bought this one a ? BUT IT'S SO COOL, I could'nt help myself ! )
asking $2500 or make offer or trade for another ol' cool Ford truck ( got to have a manual trans. and run )
Till then I guess I'll just run er around town as is. Thanks again for all the info.
