In case you're curious how a stock highboy does as far as "flex" goes
(this was a bad angle as the front tire started to get up on the slope)




I knew highboy frames flexed, a lot, but damn.
After seeing the pictures I've decided to stay off the frame twister trails until I get new leaf packs. It's the tailgate gap that scares me.

That's it, I was looking all over for where I had seen that one. I think those old threads with it must have gotten lost, wasn't able to find it on the site. Stout looking truck.

That's a lot of twisting. I had the swivelly frame joint in my '70 for most of the miles I put on it, had the passenger rear tire above the cab once. When I put it on a regular frame for the last couple months it was on the road I got locked in a park here in portland when they shut the gates at night. The only way out was to take the truck down a 30' cliff. Almost straight up and down, bounced off a few rocks and puckered my butthole pretty good. Bashed the bed into the cab pretty good doing that, dented the roof with a hippy chick's head. Never thought the dumbest wheeling incident I'd ever have would be right in downtown PDX.

Ryan- You still want that ditch digger 205? I knows a guy headed to the bay soon, but he will need a few bucks for fuel.

Yes it's a lot, but it's normal, I just need to be careful so I don't tweak my bed.

Sounds like a smooth ride you had there down the cliff.
My buddy has a '72 highboy (special ordered for something in canada so it has some interesting things) and his dad put a 460/c6 in it a while back (swapping it back to np435 now) and a couple months ago my buddy was crawling up a trail and it stalled, manual brakes didn't work out for him and no engine compression to use so he took it down the side of a big hill getting it airborne. Snapped his d44 in half, i can only imagine how the ride felt for you guys haha

Here is my truck in action. This truck means a lot to my family and is the second time I have owned it. I once considered fixing it up but it runs great and has become something of a character around my place. We call it "the Beast" and my guess is that it will continue going much like it is now with it's coat of many colors.

this is my dentside work truck. at least its a highboy, but still not a bumpside..... this might not be the type of action you were thinking of but this definately was some action!!!
