It's weird, you'd figure they wouldn't have needed to make that many :hmm:
I've got 5 degrees angle off of the bottom of my trans pan with the FE/C6 combo. I will know soon if the 460/C6 combo is any different.

i guess one thing would be to do is to measure the frame holes from a certain point and see if they are set back further or what. i do know the 78 crossmember i had around here looked exactly the same as the bumpside crossmembers i had. but the front crossmember was smaller than the rear one. it was made of thinner metal too i think.

I might have erred with my thread. Meant a long tail shaft C6...with the funky mounts.

That's the extra long output shaft (with the funky mounts). What did that come out of? What does the trans tag on the intermediate servo read?

Out of a Lincoln. Ill look at the tag sometime tomorrow. My plan is to use it as is, with the exception of the shift and kickdown stuff being swapped for truck stuff.

Thinking about using a steel plate between the mounts and the cross member to bolt everything together. Just have to wait till I can get it all in to see how it looks.

I did not know there were long and extra long output shafts. Thought they were just short and long.

that will probably have to have some sort of custom mount made to hook the up to a crossmember of soem sort. mayeb just make a crossmember out of square steel tubing.

That shaft certainly looks longer than the shaft I just swapped out of my donor trans :hmm:
Incidentally, my donor trans came out of a passenger car with a column shift and has identical linkage as my truck trans (who knew?).

My 460 came from a Lincoln too, so I assumed my c6 came from the same place, but it sure isn't as long as that.

What do the mounts look like on the transmission?

fordman wrote:thats wierd they had a different part number maybe it was hte bolt hole location on the crossmember. here is a pic of soem bumpside crossmembers. one is manual trans on the right and the other two are automatics on the left. you can see how the position of the bolt holes on the end of them changes for the type of transmission and length of transmission you put in.

Fordman, that one on the right is 'upside' down'. Note the hole in the bottom and the hole on the top of the other two. If you flip it around it will be the same as the other two.

When I did my C6 to NP swap it was a direct bolt in, using the same cross-member. :2cents:

I don't agree. The crossmember on the right will look the same as it does now if you flip it top for bottom. The 'hump' on the one on the right is centred, lines up with the mounting bolt hole. The other two are ofset. Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me. It has happened before (at least once) :-)

Took some pictures of mine. Not the greatest because it's kind of crammed in a tight spot right now:

Oh, and the trans mount is laying in a different corner so I forgot to get a picture of it. It's broken too.
