Great, and thanks. How can I stop the seepage from the top nipple that comes from the intake? I am guessing I need to remove it and put thread sealer on it?
Also, what would happen if I switched the two hoses coming from the heater core? I keep looking at my old pictures, and pretty sure they are routed proper but have this nagging question in my mind. One led to the water pump, and the other one went to that top nipple that is oozing. what would happen if they were reversed? Just for good measure, can someone tell me for sure which one goes where before I have an OCD brekdown??? LOL :-)

its kind of hard to see. but here is a factory truck with only 352 miles on it. so this picture should be the correct hose routing for the heater hoses. you notice the heater valve hose goes to the intake in this picture. the other hose comes from the water pump and tees off to go to the heated carb spacer. http://www.fordification.com/images/70explorer/17.jpg

That's basically the first thing I thought of largely due to the design of the cap
and the flange on the radiator. It's almost impossible to come off as long as it's
fully twisted on. It has flanges that hold it down on both sides.
Even if the pressure built to such an extreme level to blow the cap off
as a weak point, "I'd think a hose would be the first to go myself..",
you would see damage to the cap and the flanges on the radiator.
If nothing is damaged as far as the flange and cap, and it fits normally,
I'm almost certain you forgot to fully tighten the cap into the lock position
after you worked on it. The cap can be installed on the radiator and look
tight, but just be sitting in the loose, unlocked position. So it wouldn't
be that hard to miss if one forgot about it.
I think the clanging noise was the radiator cap bouncing off the fan blade
a few times when it fall off. Look for small blade dings on the cap..
I wouldn't be surprised if it had a couple.
I think basically your troubles should be over if all seems normal now.
You might still have some minor leaks, but shouldn't be any real problem.

Boy and how!
This is becoming therapy. I am all for the theory that I just did not have the cap on tight. I could never find the cap to even see if it had nicks and dings on it. I have washed away all the excess coolant, and don't see any seepage now EXCEPT from that nipple that comes from the top of the intake. I should have slowed down when I changed out all those water hoses. I remembered all of them except that darn heater core hoses. Everytime I hop in it, I have to look at the darn things. I was afraid I was going to start counting my steps, and washing my hands often! SOOOOOOOOOOoooooo...... A million thanks once again fordman for the picture, it put my mind to rest. I will just wait on replacing the water pump for now, and see what happens.
Thanks again guys!
