if you have an fe engine you will need a 6 cyl bellhousing or a 6 cyl transmission to put the 240 in place of a fe.

more info please? how do i determine if I have an fe - I mean I know it is made of iron - but i don't think that's what you mean

an fe engine is a (in our years of trucks) is a 352 360 and some trucks had 390 engines inthem. if the engine is origianl then the door data plate would be able to say what the engine was. since i see you have a 68 f100 it is probably a 360 but could be anything else. a fe engine has 5 bolts in each valve cover. http://www.fordification.com/engineID.htm

the truck currently has a straight 6 in it.
