yea, definatly a lot faster that the other one. it helps when you have a semi finished parts truck to pull from. we're slowing down some since we're getting to the harder to find parts like the tail lights and mirror. we also blew out a brake like and have to replace the ones to the rear.

Re: 1967 stepside daily driver.
lazy gets in the way. we're going to use the stainless lines off of the long bed and just put a loop in the line to take up the slack. also, the parts store gave us the wrong radiator (flange on the wrong side. the one we got has the flange on the back and would require us to cut the middle of the grille out to use it. )
so things have been a little slow. also we're still waiting on the key so we can start it up. i may end up calling a lock smith have have a couple keys made for it so i don't have to change the locks. i'll post more when i get more done.

I guess you got the key, but for future info you can have a key made by a knowledgeable locksmith if you take out the passenger lock and take it in it has the numbers that correspond to the depth of each cut on the key(this assumes that its still the same key for doors and engine). any body ever try a key cut for deeper depths in one of our trucks? bet it would work like a screw driver but maybe less destructive.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

no key yet. we hot wired it . no, we're not going to run it like this long. if the guy doesn't get the key here soon, then we will get a key made.

Re: 1967 stepside daily driver.
got the CDI setup installed now. my old distributor was starting to wobble and the timing was jumping about 10 degrees. we've got it running alot better now. other than rebuilding the carb and finishing the brakes, it should be drivable. Well, i also have tailights and a key to fetch, but that's it. last thing is my dad bought a tach today and i installed in on the column. i'll have pictures up tomorrow.

Keep it going man! You planning on repainting the grille, bumper, and wheels or are you going to leave it as is. I can't decide which way I would like it more....

i have a grill painted white alrieady, but i'm not sure myself. i'm positive that the wheels are staying as is, i love the weathered look. i do need to straitened out the grill that is on there. i don't know wha tthey hit, but it pushed in the grill right next to the headlight bucket.

Re: 1967 stepside daily driver.
looks like we'll be changing out the grill. the one that is on there makes the truck a bit cross eyed. also i took it on it's maiden voyage. for the last week or so, my dad and i have been getting ready for a big cabinet job and we needed more room around the shop so we've been taking parts and what not around back. the trip was no more than 1/4 mile but involves 2 decent hills. other than stalling a few times, the only scare i had was when i rounded the corner at the top of the bigger hill, a silver charger(new, not vintage) pulled up behind me and i was thinking "great, a cop. just what i need with no license or tags" but it turned out to be an older man. also, they may have found my key at the post office. when i bought the truck, they guy forgot the key and he mailed it in a regular envelope with no tag or anything attached. all that made it to my house was a ripped envelope in a "we lost your contents envelope around it. anyhow, i figure i'd list what's left to do and then end the update.
-tighten e-brake cable
-finish bolting in seat
-patch a hole in the floor board
-lube suspension
-change oil
-get a decent spare
-find my set up stepside tail lights
-test electrical components
-replace passenger headlight
-put in correct speedo gear.

Had an ex GF that thought it would be a good idea to stick the spare keys for my truck she had in a regular envelope and send it in the mail from cali....That's all I got too.. You should go buy a lotto ticket if the Post Office finds your key......killakobra wrote: when i bought the truck, they guy forgot the key and he mailed it in a regular envelope with no tag or anything attached. all that made it to my house was a ripped envelope in a "we lost your contents envelope around it.
On another note I have a key that works on about 3 different trucks.... Mostly dents though...

Re: 1967 stepside daily driver.
i painted the grill and upper valiance. i ended up using the grill off of the 69 since i won't need it for that truck anymore and it was already painted white. found out that '67's had a slightly different grill. the 69 grills have a bolder center horizontal (that's a mouthful) bar and the one that came off didn't.
it's a bit hard to see in this picture but i painted the radiator support black along with the unnper valence panel to add contrast. it makes the grill look twice as deep . the headlight covers got the same treatment but with a gloss black. i have to adjest the bulbs and replace one (high beam is shot) and then i'll install them.
got my holley to run alot better after a thorough cleaning and a new gasket set. after moving the truck, i decided to fix the slack e-brake so it doesn't slowly coast down the driveway.
up next
paint the bumpers glossy black
fix floor board
clean up tail light brackets and mount
lube suspension
swap speedo gear
drive (silly smiley and it's floor shift)
