I've used the GM style HEI replacement distributors on both my 68' 460 and my Jeep with a 401. They both start and run great. I like to keep it easy, only one wire to hook up, coil is on the cap. That's just what I like, good luck

Duraspark II and a TFI coil.
Cheap, easy & it works.
