My Lock -Rite is in a 9". Didn't realize we were talking Dana's. I will say that it is very easy for a DIY'er to install on a 9" differential. No back lash adjustments at all. Just mark everything before taking it apart and put everything back the way it was. I installed it when new in a 3.70 gear, removed it and put it in a 3.00 gear and finally pulled it and installed it in the 3.25 gear I am now running. When I get bored enough and my back is not killing me I think I'll put it back in the 3.0 as I liked it better with the 460.
They come with 2 sets of springs where one is weaker than the other set allowing you to choose which setting you like. Also if you use slightly heavier rear end lube the ratcheting is hardly noticeable.
I will say that in a truck with a light rear end you have to be careful on wet road when taking a turn. IF you give it much gas, enough to lock it up the rear will slide out on you. I tend to do it on purpose a little too often. lol
