It's a 5/8 mile dirt track. On the back stretch is a parking area where you can watch the race from your vehicle. We'll line up whatever trucks show up, eat, drink, and watch the races. More details will follow as the plan evolves.
Also let me know if I can help out and bring anything (food, drinks, etc).

YES. It finally arrived on Friday. Everything was intact, including the spare door in the bed. Drove her from Philadelphia back home to Jersey on Friday night and she ran great. Spent a good part of this weekend cleaning her up, scrubbing and vacuuming out the cab. Did an oil change yesterday.FLATBEDFORD wrote:Did you get your truck?
The orginal seat was really shot, the vinyl had cracked and crumbled and the seat foam was rotting away. I swapped it out for the seat out of my '83, which looks almost new. The colors don't match though (red seat in green cab) so it looks weird.
She'll be there next weekend!

I assume we'll meet in the tailgate area. I actually have never been there, so I'm not exactly sure where. I've been told it's on the hill behind the back stretch. Myself and the misses are still planning on going. What should we bring? Sounds like there will be two grilles but I could bring some hamburgers, salads, and beverages. Anything else?

It looks like the head count stands at 5. Mr. and Mrs. Flatbedford, Mr. and Mrs. 71 Long Bed, MaxKlinger and ??? Not a very big turn out. I guess there are not that many of us in the East.
Yes, the tailgate area is on the back stretch.

If you zoom out from where that link takes you, you'll see the track. Mrs. Flatbedford and I think we should meet in the first parking lot on the left after turning on to Rt 96.
We'll bring a table. Bring your own chairs. Bring what you want to grill. At this point we should PM phone numbers and work out more details.
I think the races start at 6pm, but I don't need to be there at the very beginning. It can be a long night. How about 7. There will still be some daylight. These are my thoughts, we can still adjust.

I'll be there. My girlfriend is busy this weekend, but my dad is coming along with me. He's always been a fan of old Fords. I've had the truck a week and he's already borrowing it every chance he can!
Steve, you're definetly brinigng a grill?

Yes. My little propane grill seems to work. I think John (71LONGBED) is gonna bring something too. I called the track today. Grills and coolers are allowed. So, 7:00 pm in that parking lot. That way we can go in together and park together. Bring your camera. Does your truck have roof lights?

No, it doesn't have any roof lights. Are you specifically referring to the orange marker lights over the windshield? I was under the impression that only the F250/350s had them, which continues to this day.FLATBEDFORD wrote:Does your truck have roof lights?
Interestingly, there are holes drilled in the roof of my truck. They're drilled on the passenger and driver side almost as if someone mounted a gumball machine on it (you know, the light bars that police and emergency vehicles use). It also has a long cable which runs from under the dash to the rear bumper, where at one time an antenna mast was mounted. I know I am at least the third owner, I don't know anything about the first owner but I wonder if it was used in emergency service.

Mine has roof markers Tony. But they aren't factory. You can tell because they are spaced differently. They are FoMoCo pieces though. I was thinking maybe they where dealer instaled.

Hey Steve, have fun with the old pigs (just kidding). We'll miss you and the Mrs. We'll do it again next year. Waited until too late in the summer to make the plan. If we start talking about it earlier next year, we'll have more dates to choose from. Will you bring the dumptruck?cooltoolguy wrote:i wish i could be there i have to work at the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police, not fat old pigs) associate dinner , since i'm on the executive board I have to be there take pics please and have a safe time

I had a great time on Saturday! I only wonder why I never went to the races before. The Sprint cars where unbelievable. Something about feeling the cars go by, not just hearing them. Can you say "loud!"?
It was very nice to meet MaxKlinger and his father. Two extremely nice guys. I'm looking forward to seeing them again. And, as always, it was nice to see Mr. & Mrs. FLATBEDFORD again. I took a few pictures but they're still in the camera. I'll try to get them up tonight.
Cooltoolguy, next time you and the Mrs. have to go, Fat Old Pigs dinner or not. It was a good time.
