thanks, I needed that. I found the right person 23 years ago. She puts up with me. And about 25 years I found the best which allowed me to quite experimenting. Now about ways of doing things, I still experiment occasionally depending upon on my pocket book. I guess that's the engineer in me.

Those look great. Those are tough to find. It'd be nice if LMC would start reproducing the bezels. They sell the AM/FM Cassette player/CD controller for about 300 bucks. If I remember right they look pretty close to stock. I might go for that. Actually I got a birthday coming up wonder how I can drop that hint? If I find one that looks like Kieths pic though I'm going with that.
Now I'm off to the junkyard to look for a '79.

I have found the right person maybe 5 or 6 times but they seem to forget My recently ex was by the house the other day and the kids were teasing me about Valentines day in front of her. I said after 2 wives I was beginning to see why men go gay. She said"ewww" that's digusting.

I think I would go with lmcs radio. Only catch is mine is only going to play country (mostly classic like Johnny Cash, Conway, Owens, Etc.) Modern Country isn't country in my opinion. I like a few of them but htats it.

What vehicle did that particular radio in your pic come out of?...I've brought home several Philco AM/FM radios from junkyards(I can still get them for about 10 bucks) from 70's Fords and I can't find one where the control knobs are long enough to fit through the holes in the bezel...

That's not my radio, just a pic of one from an E-bay auction listing. I have it marked as "71-'72" but that info would have come from the listing, so I cannot verify its accuracy. I just saved it mainly for the visual.

Did Ford actually have a factory Am/Fm option for their 70-72 trucks?....I saw a '72 Ranger a couple of years ago at the Barrett/Jackson auction with what looked like a factory am/fm radio and the speakers were mounted in the doors underneath the panels...and supposedly it was factory,but I've never heard of another one...This truck even had those old cable controlled Ford remote mirrors...

Joe, I have never seen any of that stuff either but it is listed in the 1969 dealer showroom brochure that I have, shows pictures too.

I don't think a majority of people buying trucks in the early 70's were too concerned with stereos, so it's definitely NOT something you're apt to find very often. They were available, though....in fact, a couple weeks ago there was an auction on E-bay for a a good used OEM speaker wiring harness for door-mounted speakers in these Ford trucks.

Interestingly,the radio in that photo from e-bay doesn't say "Ford" or "Philco" on it....All the ones I've seen in cars from that era had one or the other of the logos on it....

I was just looking in the accessories in my 1969 parts book and I see some interesting items like an electric clock kit (C7DZ 15A000-A) listed for F-100/250
Kit-stereo speaker and player mounting which consists of 2 brackets and speakers and all the mounting hardware. For F-100/350

Stereo tap(their typo, not mine) player kit, which comes less speakers and mounting bracket

Also ventilated seat cushions, fog lamps, fire extinguishers, snow plow, snow plow turn kit. compass, tissue dispenser, air conditioning kits (you had to get two to have a complete set up), step kit- pickup box side ( My 69 highboy had those)
Lots of other stuff too.

Has anyone ever seen any of this stuff? Especially the tissue dispenser or 8 track and speakers

If you guys want to use one of those '79 AM/FM stereo radios, and don't want to have to install "extra" speakers, then might I suggest you find one of those "dual-cone" single stereo speakers and replace your factory dash speaker with it. That way you don't have to alter your original door panels, kick panels, or headliner. I have a 66 Custom Cab w/ radio delete, and a padded dash with no speaker hole, and I didn't want to hack that up, so for long trips, I made a center console for the tranny hump, that contains the radio, speakers and cup holders. It just plugs into a wire for power, and I can remove the whole thing for car shows. Just a suggestion... Greg

I found a stock am/fm stereo sitting in a 72 in the junkyard. I remembered this thread when I saw it, and thought about picking it up. I have no idea if it works, but its all there except for knobs and cover plate. I may go back and get it if one of you still need or want a stock am/fm radio.
