Got most everything unhooked from the 302, I want to put the 351 in for now so I can save up money to finally do a mild build like bored to .40 over better cam and some head work. Shouldnt be a hard swap.. but the electrical is gonna kill me.. The motor is from an 83 with alot more electrical crap and im going to have a tough time figuring out what to do with it as my 70 has like 4 electrical connections .
Dont forget the little stuff like exhaust being slightly different. And watch the harmonic balancer to flywheel weight. I cant remember when they switch but one is 28 oz and one is 50 oz. Make for a nasty shake if you mix and match.
Man can't wait till I get started on my motor swap. I may freshen up the 302 and then go with either a 460 or the Ford Racing Crate 514. I hope that is the route I get to go. Good luck with the swap and keep us posted.
1969 Ford F-100. 302 4 barrel, C4 auto, 9in 3.50 open rear, headers, power steering, Turq/wht, Under restoration. In other words, in a million pieces!!!
Yeah that swap shouldn't be too bad. I am currently teraing the front end off of my 88 ford to pull the F.I. 302 and 5 speed trans to go in the 68. I love how well the 88 runs and drives, but it is so ugly and lifeless compared to the bump. So I have a long hard road ahead of me. Just imagine.. A fuel injected bumpside with five forward gears
In life many men take the path of righteousness, some take the path many others follow (G.M. owners, for example), some take a more arduous path, some a simpler path. I, sir, took the PSYCO-PATH!!
Here is what happened to my poor truck.
T-Boned a Dodge Dakota on my way to work one day.
She thought yaking on a cell phone was WAY MORE important than whatching where she was driving.
