Rust removal, engine block, truck is not running
Okay my 390 is currently stripped to do the timing chain I've removed the thermostat housing the temp sender everything on the front end, the radiator is out currently for clearance reasons (it was just easier that way LOL). There's a lot of goopy cakey looking bright orange rust that comes out of everything. The water pump is already been cleaned; the radiator was also taken off to flush it out, which is clean now. How do I go about flushing the block without it running and without making the most extreme mess in the universe??! I know the rust needs to come out or it's going to be an issue later on. I don't want to put it back together until it's gone. I'm not a mechanic, I will not claim to know what I'm doing! I just spent the last year and a half redoing my entire wiring harness and I'm almost finished with it! I'd like to be able to get it running once I put all the wiring back in. Please help, I miss driving my truck! It's been sitting for like 6 or 7 years now. I just want to put it back together and not have to tear it back apart again immediately. The engine is still in the truck. It is in a gravel driveway. I do have a kiddie pool to catch whatever in(it does not leak). But from there it's going to have to evaporate because I don't have anywhere on site to dump contaminated fluids. So any input as to how to do this with the least amount of liquid possible would be best! thank you, any suggestions would be great. I'm so glad that I found this website, I would have given up on my truck years ago if I hadn't have found you guys. I have learned so much I'm from you all you are amazing

I have flushed them on an engine stand, they are messy and I see no way around that. I removed all frost plugs and blasted it with a pressure washer in every direction possible, then put a broken wire in my drill, stuck that in every place I could reach and pressure washed it again. Coat hangers, screwdrivers, anything you can scrape inside with, and take the drain plugs out, they are rusted in place and holding a lot of silt, but they have to come out. The engine will run a lot cooler once it has been cleaned out, and never run straight water for more than testing, the rust returns very quickly!

If it's just rusty water , that can go in a gravel driveway in my opinion .
I had a crusty engine that I couldn't flush well , that would plug my heater core.
I rigged up a water filter for under sink use to my heater hoses and that caught a lot of small junk.
I would stay away from the caustic block cleaners, I've heard some bad stories.
