Bed's bolted down, brakes have been bled, the radiator was rebuilt and re-installed, and I've begun bodywork on the red bed.

Dents on body lines are the worst to deal with.

After a brief break while lots of family stuff was going on, I've managed to get most of the bodywork on the bed done and my brother primed it last night. I'm going to try to finish up the bodywork today so I can get back to working on my truck.

Paint Day!!!! :woohoo: I can now see every last ding that was missed, but we've still got a gallon of color to burn through so there will be plenty of opportunities to touch up areas.

Thank you! I'm kinda proud of how the rear "bump" section turned out. I discovered I need to re-do the section above the rear wheel, unfortunately.
Still, the truck looks pretty awesome now that it's all red and I can't wait until the rock guard and tailgate are painted and installed too.

Brief update, we tried to paint the tailgate but it was too damp and the paint did not turn out well. However, the paint on the rock guard turned out pretty well and I was able to install that. I'll re-sand and re-prep the tailgate after the Yella truck gets painted. A day of rain made me and my brother decide getting the trucks water-proof is now a major priority since summer weather may be leaving soon.

A fair bit has happened since my last update, but I'll keep it short and sweet. The paint job my brother did was no bueno, big time, so I sanded down the whole truck and it got a professional paint job instead. All it needs to be street legal/safe is a new front window, the rear window needs to be re-installed, and there's a few electrical gremlins that need to be hunted down. I'm pretty happy to see it come this far and I can't wait for it to be finished. From a pretty standpoint it also needs to have the tailgate lettering painted black, it needs a few of the plastic grommet thingys that snap into sheet metal so you can screw down the trim bits, the seat needs a cover, and one day it'll get the cargo light re-installed. The photos make the paint look dark, but you can see the bright candy apple red color on the front end of the bed in the last pic.

After getting the windshield installed last fall the I'm happy to say the Red Truck was driven and enjoyed for a few months until a quick check to see if the valve cover grommets were leaking became a little bit more.... involved. I sent the heads off to the machine shop at work, and their assessment was that one head needed everything possible to be thrown at it and it might be saved, the other was beyond hope. It seems the company that my dad got the long block from in the 90's did a poor rebuild job and the use over the past 30 years finished off the heads. So, the truck is sitting while my brother is deciding whether to get reman heads or to pull the engine out of my truck and install it in his. If my motor is pulled an IDI will be installed in it's place, no two ways about it.
