Negative ground location - 1969

I have a 1969 F-100 with a 302. I'm wondering where the original location was located for the negative battery cable. My cable is about 30" long and grounds to the block. But I got a replacement cable and the hole is too small for the current bolt. So, I am suspicious that the original cable was shorter and located somewhere else.

Anyone got a 1969 bump that could tell me?

Wow! I never actually looked till now, (was gonna go out on a limb and say the engine block as I always saw and recommend getting a new terminal end for the new cable you got) but...

The 358 mile Explorer shows the negative from the battery going down to the frame mount here:

Keep in mind the importance of ALL the other grounds: intake to firewall/radiator support to front PS framerail/steering column to firewall (or framerail can't remember for sure where this one ties into as most trucks have some yahoo yanking it off)

I personally have always ran mine to the engine block to ensure the starter gets a good ground, (having had so...many issues with starter grounding due to nasty/dirty/oily older engines LOL).
