Trailer Wiring

Hello. Does anyone have any suggestions to wire in a 7 plug receptacle for a trailer plug on a 1969 F100? I want to do it the right way with out hacking into the wiring. What would be the best location to splice the wires in? I thought someone may have already done this and can give me some advice. Thanks!

You will get a lot of different answers to this question. To me it's all a matter of how much time and money do you want to invest to have a safe reliable trailer plug. My last bump had the 7 wire plug that used the trailer brakes / 12 volt accessory to the camper / R & l turn / R & l brake / dedicated ground ("home run" ground ran all the way back to the battery under the hood-the most reliable ground you can have).

The trucks 45+ year old wiring never likes the additional load. But you can get a jump ahead on that by investing into every single bulb that gets powered by the harness/plug to be LED only.

Do Not use Scotch locks , they can and will cause problems.
Under dash use maybe , but not underneath in the weather.

Very good advice! I toss them in the trash right when I open a package they come in!
I solder and heat shrink tube anything on vehicles, (and tools and home wiring as well).
