I’m having a problem with my dash and head lights flickering when turned on. What could be causing this.
Also is there a light source for the gear shift indicator
Thank You

Re: Dash lights
There are a variety of things that could cause your headlights to flash off and on, here are several threads with some suggestions on things to look at:

Also if you are talking about a light behind the automatic transmission shift selector on the column, they did not have a light on them until the dentside trucks came out (1973-1979).

Re: Dash lights
If your headlight switch has a crunchy sound when you turn it to dim the dash lights it is probably worn. Easy fix if that’s the case.

Like the first thread 390FE1972 linked above, a good plan is to do the headlight upgrade to include new wiring from the switch out/ new sockets and relays) as when halogen bulbs came out it in the late 70's they took a toll on most our trucks wiring, (making it brittle and no longer able to carry the load of our newer bulbs). It's one of the best upgrades you can do to the truck and you'll be glad the very first time you drive the truck on any trip at night.
