Re: PaPa's 69 F100 Explorer
Electrolysis process using carbon rods. This prevents the rust coming off the anodes which makes such a mess.

Like the carbon rods for electrolysis. Where did you get them?

Re: PaPa's 69 F100 Explorer
Paul, the carbon rods came from everyone's favorite online hardware supply, McMaster Carr. They are not expensive and much better then using steel.
Your solution stays much cleaner. The rods do wear out but last quite a long time. I will never use steel anodes again.
JWW, thanks, I appreciate you taking time to comment. Glad your getting something out of it.

Re: PaPa's 69 F100 Explorer
Thanks guys. I haven't actually been able to work on it since November. I do have more progress "in the can" that I will post as soon as I process the pics. I have been spending all my free time remodeling a house to sell. it's just about finished. Then I can get back to work.

Here you can see the condition of the axles. Pretty typical.

Next I put my bearing splitter on it so I could press it out with my 20 ton HF press.

Re: PaPa's 69 F100 Explorer
I put all 20 tons of pressure on it but it did not budge. Total fail, don't even try it. I decided to cut the bearing and spacer off. This turned out to be super easy and simple.
